More books. . .
On a more serious note, I've been reading some adoption books by Sherrie Eldridge. It has once again taken me off guard to read about other people's similar experiences with adoption. I guess I'm more normal than I once thought. My little idiosyncracies, insecurities, and issues are repeated over and over again by other adoptees. What a wound.
I got a little overwhelmed. Okay, a lot, reading the books. I had to put them aside for a while. God has had a way with me, healing my wounds slowly, tenderly. Only exposing me to what I needed to heal.
People have a way (even the most sensitive) of burdening you. Of giving you more information than you really need. Of making you feel misunderstood and also slightly worse off than you are.
God has a way of encouraging you, healing you, holding you, and staying with you that is impossible with other people. So, for now, the books are put away. I have a much better guide.

Book reading. . .
I've started reading some new books that I am so excited about. The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands by Dr. Laura is amazing. I wish all of my mothers, friends, and daughters will read it. Everything she has said so far is true. So, in honor of Dr. Laura's book, I want to start my Thankful Thursdays with some reasons I am thankful for my hubby and my children:
1. Aaron- you are my warrior. You are strong, courageous, and skillful. I am so proud of you. Our girls are very blessed to have you as their daddy and role model of what to look for in a spouse.
2. Bella- you are sweet, compassionate, slow to get angry, and so very entertaining. We have the same sense of humor, honey. Goofy and prone to get the giggles. Knock, knock. Who's there? At. At who? Atchoo! I think you are my comedian, actress, playwright, and princess.
3. Rowan- you are my left-brained, funny girl. There is something so endearing about you, sweetie. You have a way of throwing your arms around my neck, looking into my eyes, and studying me, that makes me melt. I love it when you grab my arm and tell me to "be careful." Also, you are obsessed with spiders (bugs in general) and clocks. I think you are my scientist, engineer, and musician.
4. Haven- we are still getting to know you. You have such a sweet, sensitive spirit. You have a way of lighting up and simultaneously calming a room. You are my cherub. A couple of nights ago, you woke up around 9:30pm and wanting to chat. I've never seen a baby get so excited by seeing me and daddy come and get you out of bed. Kicking your fat little legs and opening your mouth wide in the biggest smile possible (crinkled nose and all), you let out the best squeals. So, you didn't get in trouble. I can already tell you're going to get away with a LOT by keeping up that kind of behavior.
God is so good to me. I don't deserve any of it.

Anniversary
Aaron and I have been married now for six years. Here is a running total of the events over the last six years:
1. We have lived in two cities and five houses.
2. We have had three children.
3. We have worked at seven jobs.
4. We have been through two cats, four cars, and many houseguests.
5. We have loved and been loved by many family members and friends.
6. We have both graduated college together and been classmates three times.
7. We have gone to Acapulco, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, and Kansas on vacation.
8. We have fallen in love many, many times.
I love growing and going with you honey. You've been there for many breakdowns, intercessions, arguments, heartaches, and sweet moments. I've seen our Lord in you, and it is such a pleasure to watch Him guide and lead you as the head of our family. I love following you, and I commit to following you the rest of our lives. Thank you for giving me your name.
Love,
Your wife.

Mother's day
Mother's Day is a difficult day with three little ones. No matter what happens, mommy is still mommy: wiping boogers, changing dirty diapers, kissing boo-boos, tickling tummies, nursing a hungry baby, hugging, kissing, praying, putting ourselves last, etc, etc.
We had a great day with family here. A wonderful lasagna, bread, salad, brownies, and fruit. It was the best potluck we've had in a while. The company was great, too.
Yesterday was also infant dedication at church. Little Haven was dedicated to the Lord. I'll never get over that. What a privelege to be a part of something so beautiful. Haven, don't ever get over it either.
Because of the craziness yesterday, today is my "me" time. Big sisters are at Chichi and Peepaw's. Baby is asleep. So, guess what I'm doing later today? LAUNDRY! CLEANING! ORGANIZING! What did I do all day with one baby? Surprising as it sounds, I love the quiet days like this one. I love getting my house in order, singing a song of gratitude in my heart.

Eyeshadow
Bella: "Mommy, I love your eyeshadow!"
Me: "What eyeshadow?"
Bella: "The purple eyeshadow right there." (points under my eye)
Me: "Oh, honey. That's not eyeshadow. That's there because your baby woke me up twice last night."
Bella: "Well, it's still beautiful."
I guess I'll try to believe her.

Pops
Rowan and Bella really like POPS cereal. I mean R-E-A-L-L-Y like it. Yesterday I went to feed Haven upstairs and came back down to POPS. POPS all over the playroom floor, all over the toy chest, all over the couch. POPS mushed in the carpet and stuck on little dresses and toes. I made a POPS "o" with my mouth and tried to keep words from coming out.
Then I saw the living room. POPS all over the girls chairs, all over the carpet, all over the coffee table, all over the ottoman. POPS. POPS. POPS. It's beginning to sound like a bad word isn't it? POPS crumbles. Who knew how small and sticky POPS crumbles?
It's a R-E-A-L-L-Y good thing I put Rowan upstairs in her bed afterwards. She would've gotten in a lot more trouble once I started cleaning it up.

Knock knock
Rowan: "Knock, knock."
Me: "Who's there?"
Rowan: "No! Go away!"
I thought that was pretty good for a not quite 2 yr old.
